Romes Rant: Are Chicago Bears fans ready for an elite QB/WR combo?

Are we ready?

ARE WE READY?

HELL YES WE'RE READY!

We've been waiting over a hundred years for this and now we finally have a chance to see it come to fruition here in Chicago!

Now, hold up, I didn't say they WERE elite so don't get your panties in a bunch, but they are certainly coming into their own and I'm here for it!

When the Bears traded for DJ Moore in the off-season, many of us got all warm and fuzzy because we knew what this meant for the Chicago Bears offense. It meant something that we had always hoped and dreamed of, but have never seen in Chicago, a true, elite #1 wide receiver. We knew what he did in Carolina and we also knew that this would not only make Justin Fields a better quarterback, but Fields would make Moore a better receiver.

IRON SHARPENS IRON

AND WE JUST SAW IT IN WEEK FIVE AGAINST THE WASHINGTON COMMANDERS!

Thursday night in Washington, DJ Moore caught 8 passes for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Commanders who came into the game with an overall average passing defense, but gave up 282 yards and 4 touchdowns through the air while sacking Justin Fields just 3 times. Not only was Fields an efficient passer, he also ran the ball 11 times for 57 yards.

Sure, some fans would argue that they weren't good the first three games, and Justin Fields turns the ball over far too often, but this team is just beginning to gel. The injuries to starters on both the offensive line and the defensive secondary are healing up, and the team should see most of their starters return after the mini-bye week. Ten days of rest should prove helpful for the rest of the team, and we go into the Minnesota Vikings game with a relatively healthy team.

If you're not in love with this duo yet, you will be! Not only have they combined for over 500 yards and 5 TDs in five games this season, they're on pace to combine for over 1,700 yards and 17 TDs if things continue to go well for them.

Join us after the game on the Windy City End Zone Post-Game Show with Michael Halatek and follow me on Facebookfor more Chicago Bears nonsense.
