The NFL and NFLPA have reached an agreement on the 2025 salary cap, setting it at $279.2 million per club, as reported by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero on Thursday, citing sources familiar with the decision.
This figure comes after the league projected a cap range of $277.5 million to $281.5 million last week. The new cap marks a significant increase of $23.8 million from last year's cap of $255.4 million, marking another record high in the league's rapidly growing financial landscape.
Since 2018, the salary cap has surged by over $100 million from $177 million, and it has nearly doubled since 2005 when it stood at $85.5 million. The only notable downturn came in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to NFL Vice President of Communications Brian McCarthy, the total projected costs for players, including benefits, are estimated at $362.48 million, which amounts to approximately $11.599 billion for all 32 teams combined.
With this information, NFL clubs now have a clear understanding of their financial capacity when the new league year kicks off on March 12.
