Bears Make Several Roster Moves Ahead Of Houston Game

The Bears made several roster moves ahead of tonight's game in Houston. Several players got dinged up in last Sunday's victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Ryan Bates Placed On IR

The Bears' OL was placed on IR due to shoulder and elbow injuries. He will not be able to play in the next four weeks. The earliest he can return is week six when the Bears play in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Bates rotated at Right Guard last week, playing 68% of the offensive snaps. Nate Davis rotated with Bates.

Scott Daly Signed to 53-man Roster

Rather than elevating Scott Daly to the active roster every week, the Bears filled Bates' roster spot by signing Daly to the active roster. Daly was signed to the Practice Squad before the regular season to replace long-snapper Patrick Scales while recovering from back surgery.

Collin Johnson Active For Tonight's Game

Collin Johnson shined in the first game of the preseason. But Johnson missed the rest of the preseaon with injuries. He showed enough in the Hall-of-Fame Game to stay with the team on the practice squad. He may get a chance to play tonight due to the injury concerns with Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze.

Allen And Odunze Are Game Time Decisions

Keenan Allen has been nursing a sore heel for several weeks, but he played last week and was Caleb Williams' top target last week. But there were times when Allen came off the field with a noticeable limp.

In last week's game, Rome Odunze suffered a mild strain to his MCL, but there is no structural damage to his knee. According to various reports, Odunze is likely to see action tonight.

What To Expect Tonight

The Bears' defense showed their prowess in the second half last week. They need a 60-minute effort against C. J. Stroud and the talented Houston Offense. When Chicago has the ball, Shane WLadron must use his roster far better than last week. Caleb Williams needs to settle down and get into the flow of the game early.

Prediction

Caleb Williams will have learned from last week and Waldron will be better prepared with personnel groupings. The defense will pick up where they left off last week and the Bears will upset the Texans 27-21 in a Sunday night thriller!
